Inherently, ceramic
tile products do not emit any volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Why? Tile products are fired at very high temperatures, usually
in excess of 2000°F. Organics are burned off during manufacturing,
and thus cannot be emitted into the air we breathe.

Installation Products with Little to No Emissions
By their very nature,
cementitious adhesives and grouts do not emit VOCs. Further,
nearly all mastics, reactive resins, and polymer-modified grouts
and mortars are in compliance with the South Coast Air Quality
Management District (SCAQMD) Rule #1168.

Jobsite Indoor Air Quality
Since tile jobs
do not require additional site-applied finishing, they contribute
one less phase of construction in which toxic paints or surface
coatings are required. Tile products do not emit formaldehyde
and can be stored onsite until they are ready to be installed.
Most backerboards, membranes, and other substrates are easily
cut, minimizing airborne dust or other job-site particulates.

technology further reduce airborne dust on job-sites.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Tiled surfaces
are stain resistant and in many cases stain-proof. This means
that maintenance is a breeze! Ceramic tile is easily cleaned,
often only with warm water, eliminating the need for chemicals
and cleaners needed to maintain other types of floors. Many
grouts are stain-resistant, and there are several non-emitting,
eco-friendly grout sealers available.
